Chili Con Carne #2

Another variation.

3 tbsp
Fat
Bacon grease works well
1 large
Onion
Sliced
1 1/2 lb
Ground beef
Preferably lean ground
15 oz can
Tomatoes
Plum work nicely
6 oz can
Tomato paste
 
1 1/2 tsp
Chili powder
 
2 cans
Kidney beans
 
1 tsp
Salt
 
1 tsp
Sugar
 
1/2 tsp
Cinnamon
Ground
1/2 tsp
Nutmeg
Ground
1/2 tsp
Cloves
Ground
1 large
Bay leaf
 
4 cloves
Garlic
Minced

Melt the fat in a frying pan over medium heat. add the onions and cook until
tender. Remove and set aside.
Brown the beef, stirring to cook it evenly.
Put the tomatoes and tomato paste into a saucepan. Add the meat and onions.
Mix in all the spices and the water. Cover and simmer for an hour, stirring
occasionally to prevent sticking. Add the kidney beans and simmer for another 15
minutes.
