Coffee Liqueur

An after diner drink

 2
 Vanilla beans

 1 Cup
 Sugar
Powdered works best but good granulated will work
 1 Cup
 Grain alcohol
as pure as possible - other alcohol will alter the end result

 Hot coffee
Your favorite brewed coffee - enough to fill a "fifth" or 26er
1
 bottle
A clean empty 5th "or 26er as we call them in Canada" and a clean cap. Not a cork.

Gently pound the vanilla beans to mash the inner pulp and seeds. Slit them
lengthwise, then then cut them very fine and put them in the bottle. Add the
sugar and fill the bottle with hot brewed coffee being careful to leave room
for the alcohol and let it cool.

After it has cooled, add the alcohol and cap the bottle. Put it in a cool dark place
and remember to shake it every couple of days for the first month to make sure it
gets well mixed.

Leave it bottled for at least 6 months. This produces a very nice coffee flavored
liqueur suitable for just about any occasion. (If you open it early it will need
straining because the vanilla bean may not be dissolved.)
